All This Fell Over the Past Three Days
Oddly, this does not look like much. This is actually over Oliver's head. We have had about 20 inches in three days, but it has drifted a bit and will be here until May. It is a tremendous snowfall and we have nowhere to put it. The prairies are so flat and we will probably have pretty severe flooding in the spring when it melts. Meanwhile, our backyard looks like the best Barbie ski resort ever, with slopes as high as Marcelo's head!!
Amy Just Won't Let it Go
An interesting note...when we lived in Georgia, Marcelo could not be outside for more than 30 minutes without complaining of the heat. In this blizzard, he shoveled 6 hours on Friday and 3 hours today. He voluntarily shoveled neighbors' steps and most of the sidewalk from Corydon to Elm and, other than asking for a water and a coffee, seemed to really enjoy himself. Chalk it up to a Russian heritage, I guess. As for me, who knows? But, I love this stuff!
Me with Frozen Smile
(Amy) I found it amazing that Marcelo could shovel for three hours with ice on his goatee and on his toque!!
We Put Our Children on Pedestals
Oliver and Hope sitting on pedestals in Portage Place watching the fountain. This was almost as exciting as the theater and FREE.
Oliver and Hope
Hope is the youngest sister of our dear friend, Jennifer (featured earlier on previous blogs). Hope thinks that she will be seven next July and her birthday might be on the 23rd. She is very cute and is currently missing quite a few front teeth, which Oliver found facinating. Hope joined us for the theater to see Robert Munsch's stories, a Winnipeg Christmas tradition. We hope Jennifer's son, Luke (age 2.9) can join us next year! After the theater, we had lunch, and Oliver and Hope enjoyed coloring.
